À PROPOS DE CETTE BIÈRE

“Rich Belgian dark ale with caramel, liquorice, pear, spice and enough warmth to slow you down.” Mc Chouffe Bottle 330ml is the darker, moodier cousin in the Chouffe family. It pours deep ruby and brings plenty of caramel, liquorice, aniseed and ripe pear, with that unmistakable Belgian yeast character running through the middle. At 8% ABV, it has some weight behind it, but it is smoother than you might expect and nowhere near as heavy as the colour suggests. This is not stout territory. There is no need to prepare yourself for burnt coffee and a meal in a glass. Mc Chouffe is softer, fruitier and more rounded, with enough bitterness at the end to stop the caramel from getting carried away. Tasting Notes Aroma: Caramel, liquorice, aniseed, dark fruit and gentle spice. Palate: Rich and rounded with caramel malt, ripe pear, dark fruit and soft spicy notes. Finish: Smooth and warming with lingering caramel, liquorice, pear and a light bitter edge. About The Brewery Brasserie d’Achouffe started in the Belgian Ardennes in the early 1980s when Pierre Gobron and Chris Bauweraerts began brewing in a garage. Some people use their garage for tools, old paint tins and a treadmill they swore they would use, these two built one of Belgium’s best known specialty beer brands. Mc Chouffe is the darker side of the range, with more malt, more spice and a little more seriousness than La Chouffe, although the gnome on the label does his best to undermine that. If you already like Belgian Dubbel, Abbey ales or darker Trappist styles, this is a very easy bottle to recommend.
