Freak Out

Vendor: Sir John Type: Stout & Porter Price: 32.69 The other day, Willy Wonka called us up (not really, but never mind that) to say he’d figured out how to make a beer that tastes like chocolate without adding any actual chocolate. We told him: « Hold up, Willy! We’ve already got the solution. You need Freakout! » Oh, chocolate! We aged this imperial stout for 24 months in Bluegrass bourbon barrels, then aged it for another 6 months in WhistlePig rye whiskey barrels. DE-CA-DENT! The bourbon makes its presence felt, accompanied by the faintest hint of acidity. There are dark chocolate notes reminiscent of Gino Chouinard’s fondue or melting Nutella. The finish practically evokes s’mores, with that graham cracker vibe. It’s round. Barely boozy. Syrupy. It goes down smooth—like liquid love, one sip at a time. It’s enough to give you a Freakout!
