When Wolfgang Pfeffer founded the brewery in 1889, wheat and hops were rare raw materials in the Bavarian Forest but he still managed to brew an excellent ‘steam beer’ using barley malt and using the expensive hops sparingly. Today, this beer is like it was 100 years ago: top-fermented, mild, amber-coloured and with a unique flavour.
