Fresh – Blackberry – Liquorice Chateau Barouillet is a 40-hectare estate, fully organic since 2013. The 8th generation to work at the estate, Vincent Alexis joined his father in 2010 and talked him into bottling their own wines instead of selling them for bulk blending. Soils are clay on limestone with iron and flint in the Pecharmant vineyards. Both the Bergecrac Rouge and Blanc are some of our best-selling wines – while they last – and this year’s vintage is tasting better than ever. It pours an intense ruby, with aromas of liquorice and blackcurrant and some carbonic maceration gives it an extra fresh’n’fruity flavour. Chill it if you like!
